Common questions
Straight answers, before you call.
Worth knowing before you need it. Most houses have a main shutoff where the supply enters the building, and a meter valve in the box near the street or sidewalk. Individual toilets and sinks usually have their own stop under or behind the fixture. If a line has burst, the main valve is the one that matters.
A dripping faucet is mostly wasted water. A damp spot on a ceiling or in a wall cavity is a different thing, because the water you can see is rarely all of it, and the damage keeps compounding for as long as it runs. Anything leaking inside a wall or above a finished ceiling is worth a call now rather than later.
Copper supply line thins over decades and eventually weeps from a pinhole, often with no warning. Galvanized steel, which is still in plenty of pre-war houses here, corrodes from the inside and shows up first as poor pressure and rusty water. Either way, one pinhole in old pipe is usually a preview rather than an isolated event.
Both are real answers depending on the pipe. A single failure in otherwise sound line is a repair. Repeated failures along the same run, or visible corrosion through it, means replacing the run is the cheaper decision even though it is the bigger invoice. You get told which it is before the work starts.
Yes. City View installs and repairs supplied fixtures as well as ones we provide. The one caveat is that a fixture's own warranty follows its manufacturer, not the installation.
City View gives a flat, upfront price you approve before any work starts. There is no published price list, because the figure depends on what the plumber finds on site. You hear the number first, then decide.
